Abstract: | This study examined whether or not university teachers’ perceived task commitment was to some extent correlated to leadership effectiveness, work culture, self development, and work ethic. It was prompted by apparent low level of task commitment among university teachers in a certain public university in Indonesia. A self-constructed questionnaire was used to gather qualitative data from 80 participants who were randomly and proportionally selected from a population of teachers at Faculty of Economics at Universitas Negeri Manado. Multiple regression analysis was employed and path coefficients were used to determine the extent to which each independent variable significantly affected dependent variable. Result: The results showed that variable leadership effectiveness was significantly correlated to variable work culture; both leadership effectiveness and work culture was simultaneously and significantly correlated to task commitment. Conclusion: The leadership of the university should take initiative change in their leadership effectiveness and work culture that in turn prompts improvement in the task commitment. |
